Unapproved border routes undermine Ghana-Togo disease control efforts

The meeting, held on the theme: “Strengthening Cross-Border Preparedness for Public Health Emergency: Applying Lessons from Ebola to Ghana-Togo Coordination,” examined the existing cross-border health arrangements and challenges posed by population movements outside officially designated points of entry.

The concern emerged during a meeting to establish the Ghana-Togo Bilateral Technical Working Group on public health emergency preparedness, with a focus on strengthening Ebola preparedness and response.

He said the newly established Bilateral Technical Working Group would provide a formal platform for the two countries to develop and implement agreed protocols for information sharing and coordinated response to outbreaks and other unusual public health occurrences.
