Partisan MMDCE elections could stifle development – NDC

Sofo Tanko Rashid Computer, Deputy National Director of Elections and IT for NDC The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has defended government’s position against fully partisan elections for Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), arguing that such an arrangement could undermine development at the local level.
Mr Tanko Computer maintained that the proposed system seeks to balance democratic participation with the need for effective coordination between local and central government.
Deputy Director of Elections and Information Technology of the NDC, Rashid Tanko Computer, said Ghana’s political culture makes it risky to have MMDCEs from a political party different from the party controlling central government.
