Osagyefo Theatre Company launched to promote Ghanaian culture
A new theatre company, Osagyefo Theatre Company, has been launched at Winneba with a bold agenda to harness Ghana’s creative arts industry to create jobs for young people, preserve the country’s cultural heritage and promote African stories locally and internationally.
The company, which is expanding its operations from the United Kingdom to Ghana, would use theatre and other forms of performing arts, including drama, dance, music and storytelling, to nurture young talents and create opportunities for artists and creative professionals.
Culture as wealth A Senior Lecturer at the School of Creative Arts of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Dr Johnson Edu, said the launch represented more than the establishment of a theatre company, describing it as an opportunity to give renewed attention to Ghanaian culture and artistic talent.
