Kate Gyamfua condemns arrest of women over free speech

The comments by Gyamfua follow the arrest and remand for two weeks of a 40-year-old mother of three and Senior Nursing Officer from Hansua in the Techiman Municipality, Salomey Awity Baffoe, over allegations that she operates the TikTok account “Ghana Jollof”, which has been critical of government officials.
These, among a series of arrests of women affiliated with the NPP, according to Gyamfua, present the NDC government as a vindictive administration, particularly when the same administration pardoned the Montie Three, who threatened to rape former Chief Justice Georgina Wood.
Gyamfua said the situation was particularly concerning at a time when Ghana has its first female Vice-President.
