Hundreds rendered homeless as fire ravages Asawase Pelele slum

According to the Fire Service, congestion in the area made access difficult for fire tenders, which affected efforts to bring the fire under control quickly.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service responded swiftly and managed to contain the blaze at about 7:13 am, preventing further spread to nearby structures.

No casualties have been reported yet, but affected residents have been left counting their losses as most of their belongings were consumed by the fire.
