Health investment beginning to improve access to care – Akandoh

The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, says increased government spending on healthcare is beginning to improve access to services, as the government rolls out measures to strengthen primary healthcare and expand health infrastructure.
Mr Akandoh said the government had earmarked GH¢32 billion for health sector expenditure in 2026, emphasising that investment in healthcare should be seen as a priority rather than a cost.
Mr Akandoh also highlighted the expansion of the government’s Free Primary Healthcare programme, which is currently being implemented in 135 districts and about 4,500 health facilities.
