Government rejected over 54% of constitutional review proposals – TUC

Speaking at a press conference on the constitutional review process, Mr Ansah said the TUC had carefully examined both the CRC’s final report and the government’s position on its recommendations.

Mr Ansah said allowing the government of the day to determine which recommendations should proceed, particularly when it has a parliamentary majority, could make it easier for future administrations to pursue constitutional changes based on their own political philosophies and manifestos.

The TUC is therefore calling for a constitutional reform process that accommodates the views of a broad section of Ghanaian society rather than one largely determined by the government in power.
