GNAT rejects gov’t fresh assurances, demands implementation of August 31 agreement

The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has rejected fresh assurances from the government over the concerns that triggered the ongoing teachers’ strike, insisting that the August 31 agreement must first be implemented.
According to Mr Baah, GNAT met the Education Minister and other stakeholders on August 31, where specific commitments were reached on the placement of promoted teachers on the salary scale.
According to him, the Ghana Education Service (GES) already conducts the promotion process and submits a master list of successful candidates to the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) for placement.
