Ghana overtakes US to become world’s sixth-largest gold producer

7 million ounces of national gold production for 2026, however, the final figure will depend on the performance of both large- and small-scale mining.

Ghana has moved into the top six gold-producing countries in the world, after a record increase in gold production in 2025 helped the country overtake the United States, according to the Ghana Chamber of Mines.

Ghana has risen to sixth among the world’s largest gold producers after recording 185 tonnes of gold production in 2025, overtaking the United States.
