Five arrested and one dead as police dismantle gold robbery ring

Some of the weapons recovered by the police Five suspects have been arrested and another shot dead during a series of intelligence-led operations targeting armed robbery gangs responsible for attacks on gold shops, mining sites and local communities.
The police operations, conducted between August and 12 September, recovered three AK-47 assault rifles, 357 rounds of ammunition, five magazines, two locally manufactured pistols, five BB cartridges, two vehicles, cutlasses and a metal bar.
Specialist police units have now been deployed to the affected mining communities to reinforce security and allow residents to carry out their daily activities safely.
