15 hikers feared missing, dozens evacuated as flash flood tears through Grand Canyon 

Grand Canyon National Park authorities implemented sweeping closures across Phantom Ranch, Bright Angel Campground, the North Kaibab Trail, and both the Black Bridge and Silver Bridge.

About 15 people remain missing at the Grand Canyon after a severe flash flood struck the national park, damaging footbridges and forcing the evacuation of dozens of hikers and campers, according to park officials.

The National Park Service adjusted its initial working estimate of 20 missing people downward as rescue coordination continued.
