- REPORTING TO: Branch Manager
- LOCATION: Dzorwulu Branch
JOB PURPOSE
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Towing Car Driver to operate our specialized car towing vehicles. The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the safe, timely, and damage-free transportation of Heavy Duty and Light Duty vehicles, as well as earth-moving equipment, between our assembly plant in Tema, our various branches, and client sites across Ghana.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safely operate heavy-duty tow trucks and low-bed trailers to transport earth-moving machines (e.g., excavators, bulldozers), heavy-duty trucks, and light-duty vehicles.
- Plan and execute efficient delivery routes to Zonda Tec branches and customer destinations across Ghana.
- Perform loading and unloading of vehicles and machinery using appropriate techniques, ramps, and winching systems.
- Ensure that all transported cargo is properly secured, chained, and tied down in accordance with safety regulations and manufacturer specifications.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the towing vehicle, including checking tires, brakes, lights, fluid levels, and towing equipment.
- Ensure the towing vehicle is kept clean, serviced on schedule, and is mechanically sound.
- Immediately report any mechanical defects, accidents, or traffic violations to the Fleet Manager.
- Adhere strictly to Ghana’s Road Traffic Regulations, speed limits, and load restrictions.
- Verify delivery documents (waybills, delivery notes, and insurance papers) before departure.
- Obtain accurate signatures and confirmations from clients or branch managers upon delivery.
- Act as a brand ambassador for Zonda Tec, maintaining a professional demeanor when interacting with clients and other road users.
- Report any damages, discrepancies, or delays to management immediately.
- Assist in the movement and parking of vehicles within the Tema Assembly yard and branch compounds.
- Support the workshop team by towing vehicles in need of repair from branches to the main workshop in Tema.
Requirements
Required Skills or Experience
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Ghanaian Driver’s License: Class E (or higher) is mandatory.
- Minimum of High School Diploma (SHS) or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven experience driving heavy-duty trucks, low-bed trailers, or car carrier tow trucks.
- Experience transporting construction machinery or heavy-duty commercial vehicles is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of road networks across the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Eastern, and Northern Regions (where branches are located).
- Proficient in using winches, straps, chains, and hydraulic lift systems.
- Excellent spatial awareness and maneuvering skills (backing, turning, and navigating tight spaces).
- Basic mechanical knowledge to diagnose minor faults.
- Good communication skills (English and a local language).
- High level of integrity, punctuality, and reliability.
- Zero Damage: 100% of vehicles delivered without scratches, dents, or operational damage.
- Timeliness: 98% on-time delivery rate to branches and clients.
- Vehicle Uptime: Towing vehicle is always roadworthy with zero preventable breakdowns due to neglect.
- Compliance: Zero traffic violations or road safety infractions.
